A brand new poll from NPR/PBS shows that most Americans AGREE with President Trump’s stance on Confederate war memorials.

The NPR/PBS survey shows that a vast majority of Republicans and Independents believe statues honoring the Confederacy should “remain as a historical symbol.” According to the poll, 86% of Republicans support the monuments and 61% of Independents also believe the statues should remain.

Surprisingly, Democrats are fairly split on this issue, with 44% saying the memorials should “remain” and 47% arguing they should “be removed because they are offensive to some people.”

This morning, President Trump took to Twitter to address the controversy of whether or not the statues should remain, saying it’s ”Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments.”

”You can’t change history, but you can learn from it. Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson – who’s next, Washington, Jefferson? So foolish!” he added.
